St. Louis baseball team historical guide

Through the years St. Louis has been famous for the Cardinals who were at one time in the American Association and known as the Browns.  But, there has been more to St. Louis baseball than the Cardinals, there were also the AL Browns who were famous for their miscues and losing seasons rather than winning.

Below is the list of MLB teams  that have played in St. Louis with the years they played, the team name, the league they played in with their total W-L record and the number of pennants they won and their World Series record.  If the team was playing before 1900 the old World Series records are in parenthesis.

Here are the St. Louis teams throughout history.

1876-77    St. Louis Brown Stockings-NL  73-51 .589  0 Pennants,  WS Record 0-0

1882-present  St. Louis Cardinals-AA, NL 9929-9271 .517 21 Pennants WS Record 10-7 (1-2-1)

1884-1886     St. Louis Maroons-UA, NL 173-170  .504  1 Pennant WS Record 0-0

1902-1953  St. Louis Browns-AL 3414-4465 .433 1 Pennant  WS Record 0-1

1914-15  St. Louis Terriers-FL 149-156 .489  0 Pennants  WS Record 0-0

So, those are the teams that played MLB baseball in St. Louis.  The Cardinals by far are the most successful of the bunch but some teams such as the Maroons who won the only Union Association Pennant with a record of 94-19 record are a legend in baseball history.  The Brownies are still remembered and loved.  Baseball in St. Louis has a long, colorful and glorious history and the Cardinals have won more World Series than any other team except the Yankees.  Lets hope to add to that total soon!  GO CARDINALS!!!!
