Miami Commission Approves Marlins Stadium!!!

In a meeting lasting well over 4 hours from Thursday morning into the mid-afternoon, the Miami Commission approved the Marlins Stadium proposal  with a 3-2 vote.  I know I said yesterday that 4 votes were required, but I was mistaken and apologize.  I've read so many reports on this plan the last month my brain scrambled the numbers.  4 votes were needed to pass the bid-waiver for the contractor to work on the stadium (whatever that means).  The Miami Herald has the full story with all the political details, but I care about is the fact that the VOTE WAS PASSED!

The next–and final–step is the Miami-Dade county vote on Monday where I believe the Marlins will need 9 of 13 votes to have their plan (which is 10 years in the making) finalized and approved.

More later because we at Marlins Musings have to run right now….but just wanted to share the good news with you all that the Marlins are one step closer to their goal of staying put and playing ball in Miami for good!!!!
