I only got to listen to/watch two of the games in this Oakland series. And both were games the Rangers lost. Is that a message to me? I’m trying not to take it personally, Rangers.
I’m also trying not to feel deja vu. But the boys are making it really hard. This is feeling a lot like last September, when Texas slowly faded out of first place in a month that completely ripped out my heart. I really don’t want to go through that again. You’d think my expectations and emotions would be lower after last season, but … when it comes to my boys, I’m always all-in.
It would be nice if my boys decided to reward my loyalty. They did not do it in Oakland though. They were outscored 16-11. They needed to win this series to take the division lead and they simply could not get the job done.
I listened to today’s game while I was at work, and it didn’t start out well. Yu Darvish struggled early, giving up three runs in short order. I was pretty sure it was going to be a rough day. And it was. The Rangers got to within one run before the A’s took off again — scoring eight runs through the rest of the game. Texas grabbed one run in the 7th and one in the 9th, but it was WAY too late for a peck-away attack. The game was over. And so was the series.
Now the boys head to Anaheim. Hopefully they can find a little more offense and the win column there.
