Soprano’s Star James Gandolfini Dead at 51

It is with great sadness that I pass word along the James Gandolfini has died at the young age of 51.  A Rutgers University alumni (like myself) he went on to be an extremely accomplished actor who was most widely known for his role on the HBO series "The Sopranos."

The Sopranos which aired from 1999 to 2007 set the standard in modern TV and is considered by many (including me) to have been one of the best TV shows of all time.  The show which is in constant re-run went to the next level of the gangster model.  Where the Godfather and Goodfellas left off The Soprano's were just getting started.

The shows impact will be felt for generation to come.

Simpson, the ex-football star famously acquitted of murder in 1995, appeared in court on Monday seeking a new trial in a Las Vegas armed robbery case that sent him to prison as witnesses testified to what they said were blunders by his lawyer. Simpson, 65, appeared older, grayer and heavier after five years behind bars as he entered a Las Vegas courtroom in blue jail garb, his hands and feet shackled, for a hearing that could last for a week into claims that his then-attorney mishandled the Nevada case. Ms. Jolie has made the public announcement about a very private decision.  Due to her family history she had a preventative double mastectomy. My god I can actually hear "Taps" being played in my head. I know it was a medical decision but I feel I should have been consulted on this issue. It is a sad sad day for her family and the American Male. Many times I watched the "Tomb Raider" movie wondering, "are those impants real or fake?" It is a sad sad day.  Hopefully this will ensure a long healthy life from this point forward. Tears in my eyes.

Francis McCloskey joins me to discuss some great topics such as The Bible series controversy, and much more. We had a great time & I'm sure it won't be the last! Several topics of conversation were discussed and it was wonderful having my first guest who's a fan. Havana Film Festival starts their festival this month April 12-19 in NY. April 5th is the "kickoff party" at the Bronx Museum at 6:00pm. I've been working with the festival since February and we have some great events planned in NYC, Astoria and the Bronx. Michael Jordan has stepped up to clear his name regarding what he claims is faux-baby-mama-drama. Last week Pamela Smith of Atlanta and her son came forth to claim that Jordan fathered the child while he was married to his ex-wife. Smith went as far to file papers in Fulton County, GA. She wants child support and all. Grant Pierce Jay Jordan Reynolds posted a video on his You Tube saying that Jordan is his pop. Jordan disagrees and via his rep issued a statement that was posted on TMZ. “Public records show that the paternity of the child was established in a prior case in this same court many years ago and that Michael Jordan is not the father.” The statement continued, “It is unfortunate that well-known figures are the target of these kind of claims. At age 38 New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter time in the major leagues is coming to an end soon. While many had begun to write him off before this previous season, Jeter responded with batting .316 over the course of the season. A number many had assumed Jeter could never reach again. But father time has never lost a battle and Jeter will eventually need to hang up the cleats. The real question remains whether or not Jeter will become the next sports great to become a sports analyst after their career has concluded. But according to the NY Daily News, Jeter has no plans of doing so.
“I would have a hard time criticizing people,” Jeter said. “I know how difficult it is. A lot of times, ex-players come in and act like everything was so easy when they were playing. I played against them. I couldn’t criticize people. I think that would be difficult.”

Jerry Buss, the Los Angeles Lakers' playboy owner who shepherded the NBA team to 10 championships from the Showtime dynasty of the 1980s to the Kobe Bryant era, died Monday. He was 80.

Buss had been hospitalized for most of the past 18 months while undergoing cancer treatment, but the immediate cause of death was kidney failure, Steiner said. With his condition worsening in recent weeks, several prominent former Lakers visited Buss to say goodbye. ``The NBA has lost a visionary owner whose influence on our league is incalculable and will be felt for decades to come,'' NBA Commissioner David Stern said. ``More importantly, we have lost a dear and valued friend.''
