O.J. Simpson resurfaces in court to seek new robbery trial

O.J. Simpson, the ex-football star famously acquitted of murder in 1995, appeared in court on Monday seeking a new trial in a Las Vegas armed robbery case that sent him to prison as witnesses testified to what they said were blunders by his lawyer. Simpson, 65, appeared older, grayer and heavier after five years behind bars as he entered a Las Vegas courtroom in blue jail garb, his hands and feet shackled, for a hearing that could last for a week into claims that his then-attorney mishandled the Nevada case. He was brought to court from a Nevada prison where he is serving up to 33 years for the 2007 incident in which he and five other men stormed into a room at the Palace Station Hotel and Casino and took thousands of...

Actress Angelina Jolie has double Mastectomy

Ms. Jolie has made the public announcement about a very private decision.  Due to her family history she had a preventative double mastectomy. My god I can actually hear "Taps" being played in my head. I know it was a medical decision but I feel I should have been consulted on this issue. It is a sad sad day for her family and the American Male. Many times I watched the "Tomb Raider" movie wondering, "are those impants real or fake?" It is a sad sad day.  Hopefully this will ensure a long healthy life from this point forward. Tears in my eyes.

They were real and they were spectacular!

ESPN … enough with the women’s basketball highlights already.

I've asked this before and I'll ask it again ... why does ESPN continue to act as if anyone on the planet gives a shit about the Women's NCAA Basketball Championship? Do they really think that if they pretend it's a big event that people will start to believe it? No. We hate women's basketball. It's completely unwatchable. You can bring in analysts and throw rock music over a small selection of clips where the girls didn't blow the wide open lay-up but it's still a horrible horrible sport and all the politically correct crap in the world isn't going to force people to tune in. So why does my morning have to start with what seems to be an hour of post-game commentary? The game was an embarrassment. Connecticut beat the girls from Louisville 93-60. And that was the championship game. A 33 point blowout. You'll note I said "the girls" from Louisville. That wasn't out of respect, it was due to...

“Curry’s Curtain Call Performance at MSG”

[caption id="attachment_113477" align="alignleft" width="640"]Curry Cooks MSG Curry Cooks MSG[/caption] The Knicks prevailed against the Golden State Warriors 109-105 last night at MSG. Over the years, the Mecca of Basketball, nestled in Gotham City on 7th avenue between 33rd and 32nd Streets--a bounce pass away from Macy's and the Empire State Building, has witnessed command performances by NBA royalty. Stephen Curry dropped 54 points, while conjuring up  images of MJ, Kobe, and Lebron. Curry cooked and scintillated the baskets for 50 points in the final 36 minutes. He managed to push the Knicks to the brink of defeat before Golden St. succumbed to  missed opportunities in the waning minutes. If you missed last night's game,  look for it on NBA TV or the MSG encore. It's truly remarkable. Stephen Curry was all that. His marksmanship upstaged the brilliance of Tyson Chandler. He only had 16 points and 28 rebounds. Moreover he upstaged the Brooklyn natives, Melo and Mark Jackson.  Melo dropped 35 points,...

Yankees’ Derek Jeter: I couldn’t see myself becoming a TV Analyst after Retirement

At age 38 New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter time in the major leagues is coming to an end soon. While many had begun to write him off before this previous season, Jeter responded with batting .316 over the course of the season. A number many had assumed Jeter could never reach again. But father time has never lost a battle and Jeter will eventually need to hang up the cleats. The real question remains whether or not Jeter will become the next sports great to become a sports analyst after their career has concluded. But according to the NY Daily News, Jeter has no plans of doing so.
I would have a hard time criticizing people,” Jeter said. “I know how difficult it is. A lot of times, ex-players come in and act like everything was so easy when they were playing. I played against them. I couldn’t criticize people. I think that would be difficult.”

Lakers’ flamboyant owner Jerry Buss dies at 80

Jerry Buss, the Los Angeles Lakers' playboy owner who shepherded the NBA team to 10 championships from the Showtime dynasty of the 1980s to the Kobe Bryant era, died Monday. He was 80.

Buss had been hospitalized for most of the past 18 months while undergoing cancer treatment, but the immediate cause of death was kidney failure, Steiner said. With his condition worsening in recent weeks, several prominent former Lakers visited Buss to say goodbye. ``The NBA has lost a visionary owner whose influence on our league is incalculable and will be felt for decades to come,'' NBA Commissioner David Stern said. ``More importantly, we have lost a dear and valued friend.'' Under Buss' leadership since 1979, the Lakers became Southern California's most beloved sports franchise and a worldwide extension of Hollywood glamour. Buss acquired, nurtured and befriended a staggering array of talented players and basketball minds during his Hall of Fame tenure, from Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to...
