The Mets took a game on the chin yesterday, losing to the Blue Jays 14-5 in Toronto, where the final score made it seem closer than it really was thanks to Scott Hairston hitting a 3-run HR in the 8th inning. Starter Jonathon Niese looked as bad as I have ever seen him pitch. He was unable to located his curveball early, which resulted in him disregarding the pitch all together. For those of us who follow Niese, we know he cannot survive without the use of his curveball. He ended up trying to locate his fastball (which was right down the middle), resulting in the four homeruns he gave up. (Two to catcher JP Arencibia, one to Rajai Davis and one to somebody named Yan Gomes.)
