The Phils increased their winning streak to six games as they beat the BoSox, 6-4.

The Phils increased their winning streak to six games as they outlast the Red Sox, 6-4. The Phils took a quick 2-0 lead as, with the bases loaded, via walks to Jimmy Rollins, Shane Victorino and Hunter Pence, and with one man out, Carlos Ruiz hits a two-run single, knocking in Rollins and Victorino, while sending Pence to third base. The Phils then took a 3-0 lead as Ty Wigginton hits a sacrifice fly, scoring Pence. The Phils increased their lead one batter later as, with a man on second, after Ruiz had stolen second base, and with two men out, John Mayberry, Jr. hits an RBI double, giving the Phils a 4-0 lead. The Red Sox would get a run back in the third as, with one man out, Mike Aviles hits a solo home run, his sixth home run of the season, making it a 4-1 Phils’ lead. The Red...

Friday Night Smackdown: Philadelphia 2, Boston 0

Both the Red Sox and the Celtics were in town Friday night, which is something that does not happen very often. Also a rare occurrence, both home teams came out on top...the Phillies beat the Sox, 6-4 and the 76ers took down the Celtics, 92-83 in playoff action. That is also something you do not see every day so we'll take it. Read more

Yesterday’s Mets loss among worst seen in person

The Mets took a game on the chin yesterday, losing to the Blue Jays 14-5 in Toronto, where the final score made it seem closer than it really was thanks to Scott Hairston hitting a 3-run HR in the 8th inning.  Starter Jonathon Niese looked as bad as I have ever seen him pitch. He was unable to located his curveball early, which resulted in him disregarding the pitch all together. For those of us who follow Niese, we know he cannot survive without the use of his curveball. He ended up trying to locate his fastball (which was right down the middle), resulting in the four homeruns he gave up. (Two to catcher JP Arencibia, one to Rajai Davis and one to somebody named Yan Gomes.)     Offensively, it seemed the Mets may be able to score against LHP Ricky Romero, who was not his usual self. His command was off and the Mets were able to...
