Stoudemire and Anthony(above) are no longer foes, tonight the two will be teaming up alongside each other for the first time.
With Carmelo Anthony being traded to the NY Knicks on Monday, a lot of attention is being put on whether the Knicks can be a top contender in the East or even contend for a title, because they(NY) now has two superstars in Amare Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony, both who are in their prime. However, what people need to realize is that the Knicks lack a solid point guard. Chauncey Billups is no longer the guard hewas during his prime when he was with the Pistons. He is now more of a shooting guard. While Billups can still bring that physical point-guard style to any team, he has lost a step. It's not his fault that he is getting old ,but let's face it Billups is not the same as he was during his Piston days in the early 2000's.
That being said, the Knicks are not that close to championship material as some may think. All of the great championship teams like the Celtics, Lakers present and past, and Chicago(90's) had legitimate point guard(s). The Celtics had Bob Cousy during the 80's when they dominated the league and now have Rajon Rondo who still hasn't even reached the surface of his potential. The Lakers had just some guy named Magic Johnson who only won five championships. Present day, the Lakers have Derek Fisher who has come up with many clutch shots and the Bulls had BJ Armstrong and John Paxson. So slow down Knick fans you guys are not there just yet.
